After decades of grappling with questions of who we were and where we belonged, my sisters and I developed the Multinational Patriot series to create an inclusive space where our identities serve as a starting point for dialogue... a place to reimagine patriotism.
Where the Multinational Patriot design series is our response to this pressure to identify ourselves, the #OurPatriotism slam book project invites communities to answer the question for themselves “What Does Patriotism Mean to You?”

Flags are complex symbols, some evoking pride, some conflict. Our Multinational Patriot designs combine flag elements from two or more countries, to address the “conflict” of belonging to to two different countries/cultures while often being excluded from both.
